OVERVIEW

The Australian Lawyers Alliance National Conference is the premier annual event for lawyers, barristers and associated professionals with a social justice focus. The conference will be held at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach, providing an authentic experience of Sydney's Seaside Village.

With a shimmering beach, magnificent coastal walks and a protected Marine Reserve that attracts snorkellers and scuba divers, Coogee sums up the classic Sydney surf scene.

Program highlights

The Hon. Sir Anthony Mason AC KBE GBM QC will deliver the Keynote Address focusing on the role of the legal profession in access to justice.

You’ll hear from members of each state about their workers compensation
and CTP schemes, discussing harmonisation v nationalisation of those schemes.

Professor Barbara McDonald will speak about legal avenues for redress for invasions of privacy. Specialist engineers will present on accident reconstruction, new technology and implications for liability, in a stimulating interactive presentation that will surprise you.

Several speakers will discuss the hot topic of human rights and particularly the PNG solution. Barrister, Jay Williams, will speak about his findings on the ground on Manus Island and recent High Court developments in the area.
