A NSW solicitor who was a founding member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance (then known as the Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Association) and cares deeply about protecting the rights of injured people, Ms Roshana May, has received the Australian Lawyers Alliance’s 2025 Member of the Year Award.
Roshana was presented with the award during the Australian Lawyers Alliance’s (ALA) National Conference in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The ALA is a not-for-profit member organisation dedicated to promoting and protecting justice and the rights of individuals, particularly those who have been injured, abused or are particularly vulnerable.
“Roshana is a truly deserving recipient of our Member of the Year Award,” said Mr Ian Murray, National President, ALA. “She has been a committed member of our organisation since it was formed in 1994 and is genuinely driven by her deep commitment to protecting the rights of individuals.”
Over past years, Roshana has been both the secretary and the president of the organisation’s NSW branch and she has contributed extensively to the development of ALA policy positions on critical matters such as NSW workers compensation reform.
“Roshana is a passionate advocate for injured people, fairness and justice. She cares deeply about individual’s rights and the role of the ALA to protect and promote those rights,” said Ian.
“She speaks up, she makes a difference, and she gets things done. She contributes hours and hours of her time, her enthusiasm and her expertise to the ALA.
“Roshana has an extensive understanding of the compensation schemes in NSW and, to her credit, her advice is regularly sought by people both inside and outside the ALA.
“We congratulate and thank Roshana for her tireless work over more than thirty years.”
