Justice & Other Legislation Amendment Bill

The ALA had made a submission to the inquiry into the Justice & Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026 (inquiry) in regards to concerns relating to the proposed increase in the District Court’s civil monetary jurisdiction from $750,000 to $1.5 million.
On the 8 April 2026, the ALA appeared before the Queensland Parliament's Justice, Integrity and Community Safety Committee at the public hearing its inquiry. ALA Queensland State President Peter Gibson represented the ALA.
