2025 Review of the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) and 2025 Review of the Lifetime Care & Support Scheme
17 October 2025
On the 17 October, the ALA made a combined submission to the NSW Legislative Council’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice for their 2025 Review of the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance scheme and their 2025 Review of the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme.
The ALA’s submission urges practical reforms to make NSW’s CTP and Lifetime Care and Support schemes fairer and more transparent. The ALA has advocated for the alignment of the general-damages cap with the Civil Liability Act, strengthen the complaints system, keep the six-year review on track, and rely more on treating practitioners and joint medico-legal exams, especially for psychiatric injuries.
Representatives from the ALA have been invited to provide evidence to the Committee at a hearing scheduled for 8th December 2025.
