Voluntary Assisted Dying Amendment (Residential Facilities) Bill 2025

07 November 2025

The ALA has signed on to a joint statement opposing the Voluntary Assisted Dying Amendment (Residential Facilities) Bill 2025. The joint statement, coordinated by Dying with Dignity NSW and Go Gentle Australia, responds to a proposed amendment to the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022 (VADA), that would allow residential aged care providers to prevent residents from accessing Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) in their facilities. Under the VADA, residents of aged care facilities currently have the right to arrange and access all parts of the VAD process on the premises.
