Inquiry into the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill 2026 and three related bills
29 April 2026
The ALA has made a submission to the Inquiry into the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill 2026 and related bills, in which it emphasised the importance of a fair, accessible and transparent scheme for people injured in transport accidents and cautions against integrity or fraud concerns being used in a way that undermines the rights of legitimate claimants.
The ALA has been invited to give evidence before the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee on 29 May 2026, for its inquiry into the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill 2026 and related bills. The bills would establish a new aviation consumer protection framework, including an Aviation Consumer Protections Charter, an Aviation Consumer Ombudsperson and an Aviation Consumer Protection Authority.
