The ALA NDIS/NIIS Special Interest Group seeks to develop, promote and respond to policies relating to the NDIS and NIIS.
The policy priorities for the SIG are:
- Problems with experience, qualifications and skill set of NDIA staff resulting in barriers for NDIS clients;
- Problems with the plan review and appeals process;
- Lack of advocacy support for NDIS clients negotiating an appropriate care plan, and in the review/appeals process;
- Lack of clarity concerning eligibility criteria;
- Funding and staffing of service providers;
- The threat of centralisation of determining eligibility.
The SIG actively engages with Government Ministers, parliamentary inquiries and NDIA officers to express it concerns and to advocate for the rights of people with disability. The SIG also regularly communicates its activities to the wider ALA membership.
The group also provides a forum for members to share information on relevant NDIS issues.
ALA members can receive updates and information from this SIG. Please email [email protected] to be added to the SIG mailing list.
