Overview
What is the psychological impact of legal work? This 45 minute webinar will share the most recent research bearing upon this important question, discuss the psychology of stress and vicarious trauma more generally, and introduce a number of evidence-based strategies for managing stress and maximising wellbeing within a busy personal injury practice. How the pressures of our work are altered and amplified under the present conditions will also be addressed.

Carly Schrever
Judicial Wellbeing Advisor, Judicial College of Victoria
Carly Schrever is a lawyer, psychologist, and award-winning empirical researcher. Carly graduated from the Melbourne Law School in 2004. She completed her articles of clerkship at Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens Linklaters) and was admitted to the legal profession in April 2005. Carly then worked at the Supreme Court of Victoria as Associate to the Honourable Justice David Habersberger, before commencing in the Education Team at the Judicial College of Victoria. While at the College, Carly designed and implemented numerous judicial education programs relating to judicial wellbeing and skills development.
As part of her combined Master of Psychology (Clinical) / PhD at the University of Melbourne, Carly is has undertaken Australia’s first empirical research into the sources and nature of work-related stress among the Australian judiciary (publication pending). In her role as Judicial Wellbeing Advisor to the Judicial College of Victoria, Carly developed Australia’s first Judicial Wellbeing website, and works with the Victorian jurisdictions to develop of a range of judicial wellbeing programs and resources. She is a regular presenter at national and international judicial conferences on the topic of judicial stress and wellbeing, and has been engaged by several jurisdictions in the Asia-Pacific region to develop and deliver tailored judicial wellness programs. She also works extensively with Australian law firms and legal professional bodies to deliver training on lawyer stress and wellbeing.
