Precedent
Precedent is our bi-monthly member magazine, a professional must-read covering a wide range of access to justice, individual rights and personal injury issues. In addition to the high-quality content, it's an excellent way to gain exposure and help inform other members on issues you are passionate about. To discuss writing for Precedent, please contact Tess Kerbell, ALA Editor and Production Manager.
Opinion
Additionally, our online blog, Opinion, is a great way to share your thoughts on the state of the law with fellow ALA members and other visitors to the ALA website. Articles can include useful tips to get the best outcomes for your clients, notes on recent legal developments and their implications, or ways in which the law might be developed to improve outcomes. They should include legal analysis and, of course, your opinion. Where necessary, please include hyperlinks to supporting references, and be aware that we need to abide by defamation law in publishing.
Articles should be 500–800 words. Please include an author bio and photo. If you submit an article for publication, we ask that you do not submit or publish it elsewhere without informing us first.
Opinion article topic area ideas could include (but are not restricted to):
- Workers' compensation
- Negligence
- Institutional abuse
- Human rights
- Access to justice
- Asylum seekers and refugees
- The NDIS and/or NIIS
- Transport accidents and CTP
- Comcare
- Criminal law
- Insurance and superannuation
