ALA welcomes appointment of new WA Chief Justice

The Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA) welcomes the appointment of Mr Peter Quinlan SC as the new Chief Justice of Western Australia.
Mr Quinlan SC has been the Solicitor-General for Western Australia since 2016 and will be the fourteenth Chief Justice in the state.
“The new Chief Justice has had a highly successful career appearing in many important matters including native title, professional liability and public law cases,” said ALA WA President, Mr Graham Droppert. “Mr Quinlan SC has been a generous contributor to the representative professional organisations in this state.
“The new Chief Justice has a distinguished record of public service. Building on the many advances under the previous two Chief Justices, Mr Quinlan SC will bring a modern, compassionate focus to the position.
“Both the profession and the community have good reason to be optimistic that the Courts will continue to develop and ensure justice is available to all.”
The Australian Lawyers Alliance is a national association of lawyers, academics, and other professionals dedicated to protecting and promoting justice, freedom and the rights of the individual.
